Great huge subs, huge salads, and monster exploded potatoes all inside an eclectic factory building with high exposed ceilings. They also serve beer & wine, cater, and can be rented out for parties.

Cheap wine - soft serve ice cream - and a menu of sandwiches/salads/baked potatoes all named after San Fran locations.  How can any of that be bad?!?

Great for lunch or dinner.

I'd have given them a 5 star rating except the BEST thing on the menu (Exploded Potatoes) is not always consistantly great.  It's usually great, but not consistantly.

ABSOL better than your average deli :)

The best place in Frederick for XL sized sandwiches. Prices are good, food is great.  Beer selection is the only thing lacking. Fix that and it gets 5 stars.

Location is off the beaten path but worth going out of your way for it.

You'll have no clue where this place is, so CALL AHEAD.  The sandwhiches... the gourmet preparation of everything on the menu... and it's just a take-out, or eat in, catering place!

The ultimate heavy food. I have as yet never tried a sandwich because the DC location shut down and i've been too eager for a Baker the few times i'm able to go to buy anything else. But the Baker alone would turn any single restaurant into my favorite. It is an incredible invention, including either 'exploded' or simply cut up thick potato pieces, and then layers of deliciousness, depending on what kind you get. Those i've tried are as follows:

The Kong Lobo: potatoes, chili, cheese, chives and onions, sour cream. Incredible, but very heavy and spicy after you get through about a quarter.
The Santa Fe: potatoes, chicken chunks marinated in Frisco's santa fe style, lettuce, cheese, chives, sour cream. My favorite, and essentially my favorite meal ever.
The Redwood: potatoes, cheese, horseradish sauce, slices of tender roast beef, sour cream. Very good as well.

There are vegetarian bakers as well. I am certain that with such quality food as Bakers, the other things are good, but all I need to say about this place to claim it as the restaurant I crave the most when I want greasy, heavy, just heavenly tasting food is Bakers.
